The Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC) was struggling to make it's voice heard in a crowded charity market. Despite rabies being eradicated in the UK, it still accounts for over 55,000 deaths a year globally - many of whom are children. Once rabies symptoms appear it is always fatal. CompanyX were set the challenge to increase the likelihood of financial support for the organisation from a wider audience and allow it to continue it's brilliant work fighting against a completely preventable disease.
We commissioned research to establish what the old site was doing well and what existing users believed it could do better. We also asked new target audiences what would motivate them into supporting. CompanyX then designed and developed a far clearer site with strong emphasis on fininacial support. This site is now live.
"This is really exciting" says Debbie Briggs, GARC's Executive Director. "Rabies control is gathering momentum worldwide and we need to move our work forward by attracting and talking to a wider audience"

How design can change behaviour

For those of you that think that the majority of industry awards take themselves a bit too seriously, check out the Chip Shop Awards 2010. It's designed for creatives to let off some steam, poke fun at D&AD and submit an idea that would never get past the spoilsports. Often with good reason. Irreverent, silly and a bit rude in places.
The entry deadline if you're tempted for 2010, is Friday 12th March.
