A new miniature printing press designed by the traveling open source design studio Letterproeftuin out of the Netherlands. Created for the International Poster and Graphic Design Festival Chaumont earlier this year, the miniature screen and letter printing presses were created so that Letterproeftuin could create smaller prints while on location at printing shows. CompanyX are finishing 2013 very strongly and need some extra freelance design support.
In particular we are looking for excellent portfolios (as pdf/url) that creatively demonstrate:
- brand identity creation
- interactive presentation skills using Acrobat or third party tool e.g. Prezi
- illustration and infographics
- experience of video / animation / motion graphics

A new toy company that encourages girls to be builders, not princesses, has struck a chord with its latest YouTube ad, starring three budding engineers chanting their own lyrics to the Beastie Boys’ hit song, “Girls.” ( via nydailynews )
New York based firm FlyKly, has developed the Smart Wheel, a pedal assist which aims to help cyclists ride their bikes “effortlessly”.
According to them the wheel, has a lightweight 250W motor and battery attached to it, can fit “practically any bicycle frame”, and be set to a desired top speed for riding. (via the independent)
The so-called "Starpath" is a solar-enhanced liquid aggregate made by Pro-Teq Surfacing. The material works by absorbing UV rays during the day and later releasing it as topaz light at night with the added benefit of being able to adjust its brightness to it's surrounding darkness.
