UNESCO 'City of Film'

Client: Bristol City Council, Bristol Film Office

I was asked by Bristol Film office to design a visual identity to mark the awarding of Bristol as an UNESCO ‘City of Film’. I came up with a variety of concepts with the chosen one incorporating sections of film strips arrange to suggest both the curve of the iconic Bristol suspension bridge and the rising city scape of Bristol. The award is designed in particular to promote a wider range of people in terms of gender and ethnicity entering the film industry and the preferred option uses a wide range of vibrant colours to reflect this broad diversity. As well as the main identity, I also broadened the graphic design and art direction offering by creating a ‘supporter stamp’ variation, an animated sting using Adobe After Effects, brochure and an 8m wide walkway 'wall' positioned at Bristol airport to welcome new arrivals to the city (see bottom of page).
